About Me

My favorite Shakespearean play is Much Ado About Nothing, and one of my favorite quotes from it is, "I were but little happy if I could say how much." In writing this section, I feel the need to paraphrase this quote: I were but little interesting if I could condense it to a couple of paragraphs. That being said, my professional background is diverse, but the recurring theme has been my ability to help people find their voice. Couple that with the fact that I used to say, "If someone would just pay me to sit at home and read books all day, I would be very happy," and you will begin to understand my evolution as a wordsmith and solopreneur. By the way, I was right—it makes me very happy.

If you are searching for someone to help you convey your thoughts, you may like to know that I was born and raised in upstate New York, that C.S. Lewis is my favorite author, or that my family and my spiritual beliefs are everything to me. It may intrigue you to discover that on any given day I am just as likely to be listening to Metallica as Mozart. Then again, it may interest you to learn that although I am just as happy walking beneath the lights of the Manhattan skyline as I am watching fireflies or snowflakes from my front porch, few things bring me more joy than experiencing the ocean waves crashing on huge New England boulders. Perhaps your curiosity would be piqued by the fact that I wear labels such as Browncoat, Jeep girl, geek, hippie, GenXer, Whovian, and Daddy's girl with pride, but my favorite labels are Auntie and Dora. However, what is probably more important to you is a compliment that an author once paid me: "Thank you for helping me say what I never knew I always wanted to say." This is the About Me that I would most like to convey to you.

About Transformations

If you think about any creative person, you will quickly realize that they are very particular about the way in which you experience their creations. A painter hangs his work and painstakingly chooses the proper lighting, angle, and height. A musician or singer searches for the specific acoustics, equipment, and instrument(s) that will perfectly complement the sound. A chef “plates” the food and ensures that it is served to you at a table that is lit and decorated “just so.” This is what we call ambiance.

In the art of ideas, authors and poets are the creatives. They know the secret—ambiance applies to ideas, too. The brain is truly amazing; it can decipher even a horribly written paragraph. Similarly, the eyes can appreciate a work of art that is tossed in the corner of a poorly lit room; the ears can enjoy music that is slightly garbled; and the palate can savor food eaten over the sink right out of the pan. However, all of these experiences have far greater potential in the proper setting.

The ambiance of ideas is comprised of precise vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation.
You have a message that you wish to convey, and the right phrase, proper sentence
structure, correctly spelled words, and a well-placed comma set the mood to ensure
that your entire message is properly received.

But this does not only apply to authors and poets. It is of the utmost importance that
any message be received in the exact manner that it was intended. It is the goal of a
business to convey a specific message to its clients or customers, and any confusion or
diminished understanding can result in the loss of revenue. Similarly, individuals—even
if they are non-creatives—must consider the importance of the proper ambiance for their
ideas. A term paper, cover letter, or even a personal blog serves to convey important
information that you want the reader to experience in the way you envisioned.

Whether you are an author, poet, entrepreneur, or none of the above, I can help you
“set the mood” and provide the optimum environment for your message to be heard,
seen, and understood. That is what
Transformations is all About. Together, we will
transform your message and let your words take flight.
